Folks—I’m very sorry to pass on the news that Napoleon passed away earlier today. It was very sudden and shocking (the animal hospital thinks it was a heart condition), and he had recently come home due to my kitchen renovation. We’re going to miss him very dearly, of course. We first had him when we first came to DC and he’s been very important to us since.

We could not have asked for a cat that was more loving or friendly. We know everyone says this, but he really was the best cat in the whole world. In this case, it was actually true.

Since we love cat photos, we’re attaching some for posterity.
